Anti-wrinkle and Firming
This study employs a biochemical method—specifically, a collagenase inhibition assay model—to evaluate the anti-wrinkle and firming efficacy of cosmetic raw materials and finished products by measuring the sample’s inhibitory effect on collagenase activity.
Test Method: Samples are diluted with purified water at a specific ratio, and components are added as required. The setup includes: Well 1 (Test Group: sample + reagents), Well 2 (Test Control Blank: sample + buffer/solvent without enzyme), Well 3 (Negative Control: enzyme + substrate without sample), and Well 4 (Negative Control Blank: buffer/solvent without enzyme or sample).
Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixtures are transferred to the corresponding 96-well plate (with three rows per group), and absorbance (OD value) is measured at 335 nm using a microplate reader.
Test Conclusion: Under the conditions of this test, the collagenase inhibition rate of the BONNEHEURE Recombinant Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Repair Gel (10% concentration) was 41.9% ± 1.3% (P < 0.05, indicating a significant difference). It is concluded that the sample inhibits collagenase activity, demonstrating that the BONNEHEURE Recombinant Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Repair Gel possesses anti-wrinkle and skin-firming properties.
Soothing
This test evaluates the anti-allergic activity of the sample based on the hyaluronidase inhibition rate; a higher inhibition rate indicates stronger anti-allergic activity.
The soothing efficacy of cosmetics and raw materials is evaluated in this test by measuring the sample’s ability to inhibit hyaluronidase activity.
Test method: Components were added to the sample group (diluted with purified water to a specified ratio) and the positive control group.
Under the test conditions, the hyaluronidase inhibition rate of the sample—BONNEHEURE Recombinant Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Repair Gel (at stock concentration)—was 59.7% ± 1.9% (P < 0.05, indicating a significant difference). It is concluded that the sample inhibits hyaluronidase, demonstrating that BONNEHEURE Recombinant Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Repair Gel possesses soothing efficacy.
Moisturizing Efficacy
This test establishes an *in vitro* protocol to evaluate the moisturizing efficacy of cosmetics and raw materials by measuring their water-retention performance in a dry environment.
Test Method: Three replicates were prepared for each test group. Negative and positive control groups were included simultaneously; the positive control used glycerol, and the negative control used purified water. The procedural steps were identical to those for the sample group. A dry, stoppered glass weighing bottle was placed in a desiccator maintained at 25°C ± 1°C (with indicating silica gel desiccant at the bottom) one day prior to the test, and its weight was accurately recorded (m0). At room temperature, 1 mL of nutrient agar was pipetted into the weighing bottle; after solidification, 200 μL of the test sample was added, and the total mass was accurately recorded (m1). The bottle was then placed in the desiccator containing desiccant for a total duration of t = 8 hours.
For both the sample and control groups, the weighing bottles were removed from the desiccator at 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours; the lids were secured, and the weight was accurately recorded (mt). Moisturizing efficacy was evaluated based on the percentage of weight loss due to drying.
Test Conclusion: Under the conditions of this test, the results showed that the percentage of weight loss for the sample group at 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours was lower than that of the negative control group. This indicates that the sample—BONNEHEURE Recombinant Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Repair Gel—possesses moisturizing efficacy.
Repair
Test Protocol: A total of 33 healthy Asian (Chinese) subjects (male and female) were recruited for the study; all 33 were included in the final analysis (100% validity rate). Instrumental measurements were used to compare changes in skin parameters before and after application of the test sample, thereby evaluating the repair efficacy of the submitted product.

Correlation between test parameters and efficacy claims
Repair: Helps maintain the treated area in a normal state.
Transepidermal water loss (TEWL), hemoglobin index (EI), and stratum corneum water content serve as indicators of skin barrier function; therefore, a product’s repair efficacy can be evaluated by measuring improvements in these parameters in subjects before and after product application.
A lower TEWL value indicates reduced transepidermal water loss; alternatively, a lower hemoglobin EI value combined with higher stratum corneum water content indicates superior skin barrier function, signifying that the product possesses repair efficacy.
